All the women who asked for help were convinced that the doctor was using material from a sperm bank, but in fact, Indiana reproduction specialist Donald Klein fertilized dozens of women with his own sperm to help them get pregnant, writes New York Post.
The lawyers for the doctor, who is already 78 years old and has not been practicing for a long time, say: Donald Klein intends to admit his guilt in his deed and does not deny that this was the case. The first court hearing is scheduled for December 14. According to investigators, since the seventies of the last century, Klein fertilized more than 50 women with their biomaterial.
At the moment, it has been established that at least two children of his patients are the biological children of Klein. The search and examination of other descendants continue to investigators.
The paradox is that, according to the laws of the state of Indiana, there is no specific prohibition against the doctor becoming a sperm donor for his patients. Therefore, the case is rather of a moral and ethical nature. For the same reason, it is not yet known how a fertile doctor can be punished and whether any measures will be applied to him at all. It is known that Klein retired in 2009 year.
