Felicia Nevins from Florida called the police, fearing that a thermos with sperm will explode, reports Miami Herald.
A woman from Florida called the police asking for help, as she feared that her sperm bottle might explode due to improper use.
Felicia Nevins is trying to get pregnant using artificial insemination. To do this, she collected sperm in a special thermos, which is used for transportation and storage of sperm.
But at some point, Felicia noticed that the thermos had not removed the rubber ring for sealing.
The fact is that in order to maintain the desired temperature in such thermos, dry ice or liquid nitrogen is used. And if vapor is accumulated during operation, an explosion may occur.
This is exactly what Felicia Nevins feared. She was frightened that dry ice could cause an explosion, so she turned for help to the Pasco County Sheriff's office.
Felicia called around 6 in the evening to the sheriff’s non-emergency service office and said that she forgot to remove the rubber ring from the container with sperm and there is a possibility of an explosion. The deputy sheriff and the firefighters arrived, carefully removed the thermos and safely neutralized its lid.
After the departure of her rescuers, Felicia reported that they were kind, sweet, and did not even tell the curious neighbors about the reason for the call.
However, information about this incident soon appeared on social networks, since the sheriff’s office publishes such news on its page in Facebook.
Nevins was very upset by this fact, as well as by the fact that the post was not removed that same Friday. The name of Felicia was not indicated, but it was quite easy to identify her as a participant in the incident. In turn, the sheriff's office said in his defense that they were sorry that Nevins was upset and asked to clarify what had upset her. The sheriff’s office claims that using this information could save someone’s life in the future. After all, not everyone understands how safe it is to use such containers for storing semen.
