Communist daughter
Zoe’s father, a fierce communist and a simple worker who managed to reach the prestigious position of head of the passport department in the Kremlin, did not want his daughter to become an actress. That is why he personally found her a "worthy for a Soviet girl" position of an insurance agent.
Zoe didn’t really like the prospect of messing around with lifeless figures all her life, therefore, barely waiting for the end of the working day, she headlong ran to a drama club or to dances. Excessive love for parties has not brought anything good. The first serious trouble was a close acquaintance with a young military man who, after some time, was accused of espionage. Zoe herself then managed to avoid arrest, however, she was under the scrutiny of the NKVD.
When the girl was 21 years old, she nevertheless fulfilled her dream and, contrary to her father's wishes, entered the theater school, after which she never regretted the decision.
The expressive appearance and talent of Zoya Fedorova helped her quickly succeed in the movie. She was even awarded two Stalin Prizes.
The actress became truly famous after the release of the feature film "Girlfriends", in which she played one of the main roles.
When Fyodorova’s father, a former comrade-in-arms of Vladimir Lenin himself, was arrested for unflattering comments about one of the Kremlin workers, Zoya was not touched again. And this, given the mores of that time, was rather strange. It is only known that it was then that the already held actress was given signs of attention by Lavrenty Pavlovich Beria. She answered in return or not, history is not known. Although in the light of future events, there are great doubts about mutual feelings.
By the way, at that time Zoya Fedorova was married to cameraman Vladimir Rappoport, who, as he later admitted, was frightened by the attention to his wife, the NKVD. Then there was another love - the pilot, he died in 1942. But the main passion, which not only turned her life upside down, but also tragically influenced the fate of her relatives, was still ahead.
Rise and fall
But if the actress’s career was more than in order, then in her personal life she was not very lucky. After two marriages in 1945, Zoe started an affair with an American diplomat named Jackson Tate and a year later gave him a daughter, Victoria. And all would be fine if Tate had not left the Union in his native America at the time of his daughter’s birth ...
Given the fact that in the former Soviet Union, communication with immigrants from foreign countries, especially the capitalist ones, was not welcomed, to put it mildly, it is not difficult to imagine how this ended for the actress already known at that time, who, moreover, had long been under the gun of the NKVD.
Her little daughter was not even one year old when her mother was arrested on charges of espionage and sent to a pre-trial detention center in Lubyanka. Fedorova in vain hoped for an acquittal. That did not happen. The espionage charge remained valid, and the woman was sentenced to 25 years in prison in Lifortovo, and then in the Vladimir Prison of High Security.

For this love for a foreigner, not only Zoya paid, but the whole Fedorov family. Their property was confiscated, and a separate sentence was passed to each of the relatives: Zoe Alexandra’s sister was sent together with her children for life imprisonment, another sister Maria was sentenced to 10 years in a forced labor camp in Vorkuta. There she died, not having reached a year before her release. Daughter Victoria was sent to Aunt Zoe in Kazakhstan.
Zoe spent 11 years in prison. And 20 after her release she was given permission to travel to the United States, where she once again saw Jackson Tate. This was their last meeting, two years later father Victoria was gone. Victoria herself emigrated to America a year before her father died. Zoya Fedorova visited her daughter several times in the United States.
After being treated with her in her native country, Zoe did not really want to stay in the Soviet Union, where everything reminded of the biggest tragedy in her life. Therefore, it is hardly worth surprising that the former star of the Soviet cinema screen decided to go for permanent residence in the United States of America after her daughter. Having made such a decision, Fedorova began the process of processing documents for permanent residence in the United States. However, the mother failed to reunite with her only daughter. In December 1981, she was shot dead at point blank in her own apartment on Kutuzovsky.
It was rumored that they were KGB officers who “removed” the actress because she “knew a lot”. Others said that Fedorova was a member of the so-called diamond mafia, which included many senior officials. And supposedly they decided to deal with her in this way. The murder of Zoe Fedorova to this day is not disclosed. His reason is also not known.
