The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has officially banned a private American bakery Nashoba Brook Bakery from West Concord, Massachusetts, use “love” as one of the ingredients in bakery granola, writes Bloomberg.
The FDA issued a warning letter stating that “love” is not a commonly accepted ingredient and cannot be included on generally accepted ingredient lists, so in this case “love” is considered an extraneous ingredient and should be removed from the list.
It is worth saying that in addition to "love", the management spoke about the sanitary conditions in which the company prepares its dishes and products, is engaged in their packaging and storage. Bakery executive John Gates said that customers love the ingredient “love” and often ask what makes granola so delicious. “Our answer is that this is love,” says Gates. "And it immediately brings a smile." The director disagrees with the FDA order, calling it "stupid."
Granola is a filled whole grain cereal dish that typically contains nuts and dried fruit and is seasoned with maple syrup, honey, and other sweeteners. Will granola be as tasty without “love”? Time will show.
