Malefactors use baby monitors to spy on children

The radio nurse is a very useful and convenient invention of modern technology. The device is installed next to a sleeping or playing child and allows parents to observe what the baby is doing in another room. But, as it turned out, the baby monitor can monitor not only the child.
There are at least two high-profile cases of the use of a baby monitor by malefactors: one of them occurred in Washington, and the other in Ontario. In the first story, a small child complained to Mom and Dad that he hears strange voices from the device. The voice spoke to the baby at night, but the parents were sure that the baby was inventing. One day mom went to her son in the middle of the night and heard: "Wake up, baby, daddy is already coming to you!" - while the camera turned to her, and a voice shrilly screamed: "Wake up!" It turned out that the criminal had seized access to the channel to which the device was tuned.
In a family from Ontario, the baby monitor turned on suddenly - instead of the usual noise that the child creates, disturbing music poured out of the device, after which the parents heard a voice: "I'm watching you right now." To put it mildly, this is frightening, although no real harm was done in either the first or the second cases. But even adults were traumatized - what to say about children?
The danger of baby monitors is that they can communicate with the child and even look at it, with certain skills, anyone who can hack access to the device over the radio channel or the Internet can. All this may scare the baby or become a source of information about your home for potential robbers.
How to protect your child, yourself and housing? Choose a device on which you can put a code word or phrase to access the network. Make sure that such a password is as complex and unique as possible. And do not rely on technology one hundred percent - the child should always be under the control of adults.
