A Louisiana man was arrested for speeding twice when he wanted to get his pregnant wife to the hospital as soon as possible.
The woman began preterm labor, transmits Daily Mail.
Bridget Evans had contractions two months before the due date. She and her husband Zack jumped into the car and drove to the nearest maternity ward. At the same time, the man drove around 174 km / h, where there was a limit of 88 km / h.
A police patrol noticed the speeding by their car and demanded to stop. The couple tried to explain to the officers what was happening and why they were in such a hurry. But the cops did not listen and told Zak and Bridget to get out of the car. When the couple were still able to clarify the situation, instead of providing them with escort to the hospital, Zak was handcuffed and sent to prison. Bridget called an ambulance, which delivered her to Cabrini hospital.
“I didn't have time to look at my speedometer ... I was worried about her, about the blood flowing and about my child dying,” Zach told WISTV.
“This is the most terrible experience for any mother, especially a primiparous, not knowing what's going on,” Bridget said. "I actually had to experience that my child came into this world without a father."
After hospital staff called the police and asked to let the man go to his wife, Zak was able to see the newborn daughter. The girl was born weighing less than two kilograms. Family reunited.
