Famous American actress Cynthia Nixon is ready to follow in the footsteps of Arnold Schwarzenegger, who in 2003 was elected governor of California.
But, unlike Arnie, the star of the series "Sex and the City" intends to run for governor of New York, reports The Wall Street Journal.
51-year-old Nixon will compete with the current state governor, Andrew Cuomo, who plans to again fight for this post in the elections in the 2018 year.
“Cynthia Nixon is a ready candidate with progressive ideas that will attract people,” said American analyst Bill Easton.
Other potential candidates for the post of state governor are Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner and former Senator Terry Gibson.
It is noted that in 2013, Nixon worked in the election headquarters of the current mayor of New York, Bill De Blasio.
Nixon herself has not yet commented on the intention to run for office in the governors.
Recall that in 2004, the actress came out and announced a relationship with the activist of the educational movement, Christine Marinoni.
