When we watch an American film or TV series, we usually assume that all the actors in them are actually from the United States. However, many of our favorite movie stars were actually born or raised outside of the United States.
Jim Carrey, Canadian
Jim Carrey was born in the Toronto suburb of Newmarket, Ontario. His mother was of Irish, Scottish and French descent, while his father was French and Canadian. And even the original family name was written in French: Carré.
Keanu Reeves, Canadian
Keanu Reeves was born in Beirut, Lebanon, where his English mother met an American-Hawaiian lover who became Keanu's father. When the boy was 2 years old, his parents divorced, the mother and son left to look for a better fate. They stayed in Sydney for a while, then moved to New York, and finally settled in Toronto, Ontario.
