37-year-old Trish Russo from Los Angeles spoke about her decision to have a child after a seven-year battle with an incurable cancer, despite the fact that she would leave her husband as a single father.
In 2011, Trish was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer, The Daily Mail... She was only thirty, and she dreamed of having a child from her beloved husband Greg. I had to postpone these dreams in order to save my life - the woman was prescribed an urgent course of chemotherapy and radiation.
Trish went through four courses of "chemotherapy" over three years, but the cancer progressed to stage IV. She was told that there was no chance. By this time, the woman was tired of postponing plans for motherhood until later, and after talking with her husband that he could remain a single father, she decided to become a mother.
The couple went to the clinic for donor eggs and resorted to the services of a surrogate mother. Finally, in November 2016, the boy Grayson was born.
It all started when Trish went to the doctor when she discovered a swelling in her chest. However, it took another six months before she was sent for an MRI - already due to pain in the armpit. By Christmas 2011, Trish was diagnosed with stage 2B breast cancer, which meant that her tumor had grown to 2-5 cm in size and the cancer cells had spread to her lymph nodes. The woman's breasts were removed. At that time, she planned to freeze the eggs until the time when she could bear the baby. But in 2013, having gone to the doctor with complaints of severe headaches, Trish found out that the cancer was in its final stages and a tumor had already formed in her head. After a week, the formation was removed.
Trish did not say how long she would live. According to statistics from the American Cancer Society, the last five years with breast cancer in the last stage are experiencing only 22% of women. In 2014, the family decided to try to conceive a child using IVF, but a scan showed another tumor in the woman’s brain. Then it became clear that they would need a donor cell and a surrogate mother. The couple signed an agreement with a surrogate motherhood agency in January 2015.
Before that, Trish told her husband: "You must understand that you can remain a single father." The spouse replied: “I think you will be fine. But if you are destined to die, all I can do is to father a child in your honor. ”
To become parents, the couple spent 125 thousand dollars. And in November, 2016, became the parents of a healthy boy. Trish hopes and believes that she will be able to see her son grow up, he goes to school and one day he will create his own family.
“Statistically, I know the cancer will come back. I hope that I am an anomaly, that I can see my son go to school for the first time, go to university, get married. That I can experience it all, ”says Trish.
