Few people know that the plot of the famous film "Love and Doves" is taken from the real life of a large family living in the town of Cheremkhovo, Irkutsk Region. Moreover, the scriptwriter Vladimir Gurkin even kept the real names and surnames of these people, which caused them an offense after the premiere of the film. Later he had to apologize and appease all the Kuzyakins with gifts.
It all began in the mid-70s, when, on the instructions of Galina Volchek, the Chief Registrar of the Sovremennik Theater, screenwriter and prose writer Vladimir Gurkin decided to write a lyric play for the Moscow theater. From childhood, he remembered the history of his neighbors in the city of Cheremkhovo, when the head of the venerable family went on a trade union ticket to a resort and was carried away there by his lonely countrywoman.
It really seemed to Vasily Kuzyakin that his life with his wife was just a habit, and Raisa Zakharovna was the woman of his dreams. Despite three children, after vacation he returned not home, but to the house of his new passion. Nadezhda cursed her husband and strictly forbade the children to see him.

Six months later, Vasily realized that this was just a whim, and his real home and family were near Nadezhda. He tried to return and ask for forgiveness, but his wife did not even let him on the threshold. He had to settle in an old bathhouse with his neighbors, where he did not give up the hope that sooner or later Nadia would forgive him.
Almost a year passed in this way. In the end, she agreed to a date with him, but subject to secrecy. They began to meet secretly from everyone, until Nadezhda realized that she was pregnant again. It was pointless to hide everything further, and they again began to live together for the joy of their children.
It was such a life story that formed the basis of Gurkin's merry melodrama. When he wrote it, he temporarily saved the real names of his prototypes, so that later he could choose suitable pseudonyms. But when he finished the play, he realized that he could not think of these names and surnames better. He changed only the name of the lover, calling her Raisa Zakharovna.

In the theater, the play was a success, and soon it was decided to film it. When the all-Union premiere of the film took place, in the small town of Cheremkhovo, of course, everyone recognized their fellow countrymen. The Kuzyakins became a celebrity among the townspeople, but Nadezhda and Vasily themselves took offense at the author Vladimir Gurkin, whom they knew personally. Only after a while, when the screenwriter apologized and presented expensive gifts at the expense of his royalties, the Kuzyakins forgave him.
In honor of their famous countrymen and heroes of this legendary film, in 2011 a monument was erected in Cheremkhovo.
