Paul Amador, a Republican lobbyist for the Idaho bill, expressed his disappointment that, until 2018, the state had no legislative protection for nursing mothers, writes Insider.
“I think we can take a proactive stance with legislation to promote the natural mother-child bond, the health benefits of breastfeeding. I also believe that the health and nutritional choices of our families are best left to the families, not the government, ”Amador said.
According to the Independent, the bill was unanimously passed in March, but only recently entered into force.
But in the state of Utah the same bill was met with more serious resistance. The Salt Lake Tribune reported that the original wording, which states that public breastfeeding will be legal “regardless of whether the woman’s breast was uncovered during or due to breastfeeding,” was changed after the Republican Congress Kurt Webb said that this would lead to immodest behavior.
“You seem to be saying that you don't need to cover up at all. I don't like it, I am against it, ”said Webb.
The Republican Congressman Justin Fawson, who speaks for the bill, is confident that mothers should be comfortable feeding their children anywhere, not just in public restrooms.

The amended bill was nevertheless adopted by a majority of the voters in January and will soon enter into force.
