The US Supreme Court refused to reconsider the sentence of Russian citizen Natalia Leshchenko-Wilson, who was sentenced to two life terms for a double murder, said RIA News defendant's lawyer Alexei Tarasov.
“Last week, the US Supreme Court still refused Leshchenko-Wilson to review her sentence, and therefore, unfortunately, these two life sentences are no longer subject to appeal - only if there are grounds for complete innocence,” the lawyer said.
According to her, the defense drew attention to the new data revealed in the case. “We managed to get a report from forensic experts that the blood that was on Leshchenko-Wilson's pants when she was taken to the police station was most likely the blood of Leshchenko-Wilson herself, rather than the blood of the deceased,” Tarasov said.
“This was essentially the only biological evidence that was used to highlight her degree of guilt. Unfortunately, despite this, the Supreme Court did not accept this petition, ”the lawyer said.
Leshchenko-Wilson was convicted in 2012 year. She was accused of slaughtering her ex-wife and her husband's son. The deceased Slavka Naidenova was the sister of a businessman Ilya Pavlov, whom the media called the richest man in Bulgaria. He was killed in 2003, in Sofia.
