After a resident of California sued Sephora for a lipstick tester infected with herpes, the investigation found several different forms of bacteria on cosmetics samples in America’s leading retail stores. Some of them can cause diseases, writes Miami Herald.
Research team Rossen Reports Checked makeup samples in three large US retail stores. According to the report, harmful bacteria in cosmetics were found in all three stores, including E. E. coli coli (E. coli) and staphylococcus. Some samples are positive for bacteria that are commonly found in feces.
“You can literally dab and smear someone's feces on your lips,” says Dr. Whitney Bowie, a dermatologist, bluntly.
