In the US, 36-year-old Kelly Rowlett sued the biological father, obstetrician-gynecologist Gerald Mortimer, who secretly used his sperm to help Rowlett's parents conceive a child, writes 8 ABC.
The girl filed her genetic data in Ancestry.com and, having obtained the results, she found out that her father is not biological. Soon she found out that her father was a doctor who had once treated her parents.
Parents Kelly, Howard Fowler and Sally Ashby in 1979, while living in Idaho Falls, Idaho, decided to conceive a child and had difficulties. Dr. Mortimer found that both parents have problems in the reproductive system.
Mortimer recommended an artificial insemination procedure, in which 85% Fowler sperm were mixed with the sperm of the donor, which the couple would choose. Prospective parents agreed to the procedure and asked the donor to be a college student whose physical data were similar to Fowler's data.
But the doctor used his sperm, although he did not meet the requirements set by the parents for the donor. Kelly Roulet was born 20 May 1981 of the year.
Later, the family decided to move to Washington state. When Mortimer found out about this, he wept. Kelly believes that this can be regarded as evidence that she is his biological daughter.
