Tennessee Governor Bill Heslem pardoned Cytotoy Brown, sentenced to life imprisonment for prostitution, as well as robbery and murder of a client.
Brown will be released in August 2019, after serving a 15-year prison sentence, writes Medusa. For the next 10 years, she will have to abide by the terms of parole.
“Shintoya Brown, by her own admission, committed a heinous crime at the age of 16. However, the juvenile life sentence <...> was too harsh, especially in light of the steps taken by Ms. Brown to improve her life, ”Haslem said in a statement.
In 2004, 16-year-old Sinthoya Brown, who had been involved in prostitution since adolescence, killed and robbed one of her clients. In 2006, she was sentenced to life imprisonment. Brown could only ask for early release after 51 a year.
