In New York installed free dispensers with sunscreen

In NYC placed 100 free dispensers with SPF 30 sunscreen in 27 locations on 9 city beaches and one fishing pier. This is part of a pilot program approved last year by the Parks Department to prevent skin cancer. Vacationers can get a portion of the cream as easily as a dose of liquid soap in a public toilet.
The initiator of this program was the city auditor Scott Stringer. Similar programs already exist in Boston and Miami Beach.
“This will help the residents of the five boroughs of New York to protect themselves. We are proud that our report laid the foundation for making this a reality, ”Stringer said in an email.
New York non-profit organization Impact Melanoma and Brightguard donated dispensers and 1000 liters of cream SPF 30. According to the Parks Department, dispensers are scattered around the city's 14-mile beach in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.
Many New Yorkers are delighted with the idea and are pleased that dispensers with sunscreen have appeared in their area.
One of the reasons for giving sunbathers a free cream is the 40% increase in cancer incidence between 2006 and 2011. At first, the city blamed the solarium cancer epidemic, but additional research has shown that natural sunlight is almost more harmful than artificial ones.
“Sunscreen dispensers are smart public policy to improve the quality of life in New York City,” Stringer previously reported. “We hope that all cities will follow our example. Nonprofits fighting melanoma are on our side. ”
Recall melanoma is the most dangerous type of cancer. More than 200 thousand new cases are recorded annually. Some of them die even after a timely course of chemotherapy.
