In some families, grandmothers came to the rescue, which seems to be a completely logical and convenient decision. But, as it turned out, not everyone thinks so.
The Australian grandmother suddenly became famous all over the world, asking her daughter for a salary for the time she would sit with her grandson. The mass media wrote about this case and, of course, it was actively discussed by users of social networks. It all started when the grandmother asked the users of the social network Reddit for an opinion on whether she was right in the situation with her daughter and grandson.

The woman said that her 29-year-old daughter was going to return to work and asked her mother to sit with her one-year-old grandson 2-3 times a week while she was away (from 7.30 to 15.00). The grandmother agreed, but asked to pay for this time.
The woman's arguments are simple: she works for herself, and will not be able to spend the time spent with her grandson on making money.
“I love my grandson, but I'm not a kindergarten worker. I have my own life, work and my daughter must understand this, ”she wrote.
My daughter really treated the request with understanding, but asked to lower the price a little. The “salary” requested by the grandmother is quite high and amounts to more than half of her daughter's earnings; in return, the daughter offered to buy all the necessary food on the days when the grandmother and grandson would be together.
This situation has caused a very mixed reaction from users of social networks. Most were outraged by the attitude of the grandmother and expressed the opinion that if the grandmother was not ready to sit with her grandson for free, then she should simply refuse.
Many expressed doubts about the fairness of the woman's requests, noting that such money for childcare is received by qualified specialists with diplomas and certificates.

There were also those who agreed with the position of the grandmother, because she is losing money sitting with her grandson. This means that it has the right to demand compensation. Anyway, a grandmother is not a nanny, she has her own life, which she is not at all obliged to spend on solving her daughter's problems.
But still, most of the users of the social network accused the grandmother of a lack of empathy for her daughter and urged her to refuse such "help" and advise her daughter to use the services of professionals.
