Heather Godnitsky and her husband Joe already have one child, a boy. They decided to share their experiences publicly when they learned that there was almost no chance of a successful second pregnancy. A hematoma formed around the fetus, and in the ninth week of pregnancy, Heather lost her baby. The woman did not close in herself, on the contrary - to share her experience, she created a blog.
“It was the loss of a small life: a little child who was with me, and I saw his heartbeat on the screen, and then he was gone. I know it's not customary to talk about it, but when I started talking, it became easier for me to come to terms with the loss. And it's okay to experience the emotions that I feel, ”Heather said.

Every 10-15 out of 100 pregnancies are terminated; women often blame themselves for having lost a child, although often a miscarriage in the early stages of pregnancy (up to three months) occurs due to chromosomal abnormalities of the embryo.
“We studied the cases of 55 women who had spontaneous abortion and underwent genetic tests. In 000% of cases, pregnancies were terminated due to genetic abnormalities, ”says William Kutte, director of the Memphis Association for Reproductive Medicine.
According to doctors, the age of the parents plays a significant role in this.
“In 30-year-old women who have experienced one or even two miscarriages, the cause may be due to a malfunction of the thyroid gland, problems of the immune system, it may be a blood clotting problem or an infection - diseases that are treated. After 40, repeated spontaneous abortions are usually associated with the fact that in women of this age 90% of the eggs have genetic abnormalities, ”adds Alan Koperman, professor of gynecology and reproductive medicine.
Most women who survive the loss end up giving birth to healthy babies, doctors say.
“When the patient came to me, she was a little over 30. She had 27 spontaneous abortions. Didn't believe her at first, but they were documented. Over the years of my work, I have had many patients, and it was difficult for me even to imagine that after 27 pregnancies and 27 miscarriages, someone wants to try to get pregnant again. But when I heard from her: "I am just sure that I will have a child," he said: "If you believe and are ready to try again, I will do my best." And in the end, she had a successful pregnancy, ”said William Kutte.
