Thanksgiving, followed by Black Friday, are key days of pre-holiday sales and the biggest shopping days of the year, when Americans go shopping and holiday gifts. However, last year, for the first time in years, Black Friday poached the majority of shoppers as many key stores closed on Thanksgiving. It looks like it will be the same this year.
The main reason why shops and even huge international chains are closed during the holidays is the opportunity for sellers and buyers to pause and spend time with their families. According to a survey in September in the United States, 57% of Americans do not like the idea of shopping on Thanksgiving Day, and the whole 16% actively supported this idea. So, which stores will be open, and which stores are closed on Thursday 23 November?
