Evgeny Menshov is an actor and TV presenter, whom everyone in the USSR knew. Even if someone does not immediately remember the films with his participation, then “Song of the Year” was impossible not to watch.

The calling card of the graceful Evgeny Menshov was friendliness and the ability to win over the viewer. He was also hardworking, persistent, consistent in moving towards the next goal. He could have done a lot, but he left this world forever: he left prematurely at 68 years old. The disease turned out to be stronger than the desire to live and create.

Evgeny was born in 1947 in the city of Gorky (now Nizhny Novgorod). Their family lived practically on the outskirts of the city. Here he learned what post-war poverty, bordering on poverty, is. Despite the scanty wealth in the family, the young man knew from his school years that he would definitely conquer Moscow - a city where cherished dreams come true.
The guy entered the theater school at the age of 15. Studied diligently, was one of the best. Not without reason, after graduating from the institution, he could go to work in any of the two theaters of the city, which invited the young actor. But he had another dream.
At the age of 19, Eugene watched the film Nobody Wanted to Die. The picture struck the guy. He realized that he also wants to play the way Donatas Banionis does. But he knew that for this he had to immediately go to the capital. Evgeny bought a one-way ticket to study there.
While studying at the Moscow Art Theater School, Evgeny has already played on stage in the performances "Days of the Turbins", "Blue Bird", "Three Fat Men". He became unusually talented because he studied with the masters - Viktor Monyukov, Pavel Massalsky, Alla Tarasova, Viktor Stanitsyn. He often recalled that they taught students not only acting but also life.
Oleg Efremov relied on the young, so he invited Menshov to the Moscow Art Theater. But the graduate chose the Gogol Theater, where unusual, daring performances were staged on the stage. And I was happy because I plunged into a special atmosphere. I enjoyed practicing not only acting, but also learned the Georgian language when it was needed for the game.

And yet, Evgeny Menshov parted with the theater, and completely painlessly. He decided for himself that he would not go to an entreprise, but rather go to television. The host of Song of the Year is one of his best roles. He played on a different stage, representing composers, performers of songs. He tried to invite each hero to the stage benevolently, for which the presenter was appreciated, loved, respected.
What else did Evgeny Menshov do? He starred in films, using the store of knowledge that he received in school and theater. His filmography includes 34 works. The most famous films with the participation of the actor: "Melody for two voices", "Alexander Garden", "Peter the Great", "Combats", "State Border".
He also loved football and often appeared on the field. Pele was Menshov's idol, but the guy did not want to become a professional athlete. He is remembered for the "command of the stars." In 2008 Menshov took part in a match against his Brazilian colleagues and defended the goal of his team.
It should be noted that Evgeny Menshov had a good ear and voice. He sang beautifully. I rarely did it, but from the heart. Sometimes songs performed by him were played on television.
The personal life of the actor and TV presenter turned out to be florid. His first marriage with actress Natalia Seliverstova lasted 18 years, and then their feelings faded away, and he fell in love with another.
Another actress Larisa Borushko became the second wife of Evgeny Alexandrovich. And with her he was happy for exactly 18 years. The couple had a son, Alexander. But Larisa passed away at 43, could not defeat the oncological disease.
When Menshov was 60 years old, he met Olga the Terrible. She pulled the actor out of depression, forced him to return to the set. Fate gave them only 8 happy years.
For a long time he fought the disease, but the forces were unequal. The last days of his life were painful for him. He lived out not at home, but in a hospice. There were only doctors nearby. Menshov's heart stopped on May 19, 2015. There are still many unfinished songs, many unfinished projects, but fate dealt him the final blow - the disease turned out to be merciless.
