Netizens were unhappy that the wife of the President of the United States was engaged in the reconstruction of the court during the coronavirus pandemic, from which people are dying, writes Lenta.ru.
The wife of US President Donald Trump, Melania, built a new tennis pavilion on the grounds of the White House, which caused a wave of outrage on the Internet. Political scientist David Rothkopf published a tweet and compared Trump's wife to the French queen Marie Antoinette, during whose reign tens of thousands of people died from terror.
Rothkopf wrote that now Marie Antoinette can "breathe a sigh of relief", since at the moment in the United States from the virus every two weeks, twice as many people die as during the entire period of the Queen's reign.
Similar views were expressed by other Twitter users. So, some of them supported Rothkopf and called Trump's wife Melania-Antoinette, while others sarcastically stressed that the news about the pavilion immediately made the sick feel better.

In the comments, one of the users also described Trump as "the most useless first lady in history," and another participant in the discussion suggested that US President-elect Joe Biden would soon change the layout.
Trump spoke about the completion of the work in a statement published on the White House website. As the spouse of the American president noted, the development of the project began in 2018. Experts have reconstructed a tennis court and a garden on the territory of the residence, and also added a new building. At the end of the statement, Trump's wife thanked everyone who took part in the work.
In August 2020, Americans criticized Melania Trump after the restoration of the White House rose garden. Then the first lady presented the layout of the garden, from which she removed the cherry blossoms growing there, as well as most of the roses and other flower beds. As planned by Trump, the garden was supposed to be made more convenient for film crews and people with disabilities. However, netizens did not appreciate the idea and compared the updated rose garden to a cemetery.
