On the GoFundMe fund page, an account was created that collected tens of thousands of dollars for the treatment of a two-year-old girl allegedly suffering from cancer. It turned out that the child is completely healthy and he was never given such a diagnosis.
The girl's mother, Emily Faber of Woutoma, Wisconsin, is under investigation after she deceived the whole city and a lot of people across the country, saying that her child had cancer - non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, writes Mirror. The whole family, friends, strangers united around a nonexistent grief to raise funds for a sick child. Emily was handed over to the police by her relatives, whose names are not called.
“People should know that they have been deceived. A child with cancer is too serious. This is not something to lie about, ”family representatives told reporters.
According to relatives, even the girl's father was sure that she was sick. It all started when Emily found a lump on her daughter's arm. She called her family and said, sobbing: "The doctor says she is really sick." But soon the family began to ask questions when they noticed that a completely healthy-looking two-year-old child does not look sick, does not get tired, and does not show other signs of either the disease itself or the very difficult treatment for it.
Relatives called the children's hospital, where the girl was allegedly treated. It turned out that she had never been a patient of the clinic. Despite the fact that the medical records indicate the mother's complaint about the lump on her arm, the child was not diagnosed with cancer and, of course, chemotherapy was not performed either. The father filed a claim with Emily, who confessed everything and agreed to go to the police. Now the relatives want to return the money to those who donated for the girl's treatment.
Around 23 000 US dollars were collected as a result of donations from 23 people. AT GoFundMe stated that they are now working with law enforcement agencies to return money to all donors, and added that Emily was banned from the platform. The investigation continues. Emily Faber did not comment, but according to some reports, one of the closest women claims that she suffers from a mental disorder.
