In Fujian Province of China, a saleswoman broke her finger for a careless statement.
The conflict occurred after a man brought shoes to a shoe store a couple of days ago and addressed a saleswoman with the words: “Hello, beautiful. This pair was uncomfortable. Is it possible to change it? In response, the woman grabbed his right hand and shouted: "Why did you call me a beautiful woman?" The buyer felt pain and pulled out his hand. In the police, a store employee explained that she was in a bad mood because of problems at home and at work. According to her, the statement of the man was the last straw. She does not consider herself a beauty, so she considered that the visitor was trying to flirt and fell for it. The man himself claims that he called her so out of politeness.
The publication notes that recently the Chinese word "Maine" ("beauty") is increasingly being used as a reference to unfamiliar women. Men, in turn, are called “shuaige” - “handsome”.
Previously, when talking with unfamiliar women, the word "xiaojie" ("girl" or "young lady") was used, but it fell into disuse because of the associations with prostitution that had appeared.
