In the summer of 1984, American Terry Wallace, along with a friend, fell off a cliff in a car. The friend died, and Wallace fell into a coma. The doctors didn’t give any hope to the family, saying that the chances were practically nil.
But 19 years later (in the summer of 2003), unexpectedly for everyone, Terry woke up. Only now I felt like a young guy from those times and did not recognize my grown-up daughter, whom I remembered as a baby.
It took a lot of time and effort to recover. At first he just learned to speak words, then coherent phrases and sentences. The tragedy left him physically paralyzed, caused short-term memory impairments, but his consciousness and ability to communicate were restored.

And 19 years later, to the great happiness of the caring wife Gertrude, who had been hoping and praying for her husband all this time, he woke up. And after what happened, his brain quickly adapted to the realities and functioned completely normally.

The famous jazz pianist Fred Hersh in the 1990s was infected with HIV. And in 2008, due to pneumonia and against the background of an immune deficiency, the musician developed sepsis, and he fell into a coma. Two months passed, the doctors no longer hoped for success, but Hersh suddenly began to return to life. Of course, being in a coma affected muscle tone and walking ability. He recovered four times longer than he was unconscious. But after 8 months the musician left the clinic on his own, and after a while he returned to his beloved work and even wrote the concert "My dreams in a coma".

Tennessee State Police Officer Harry Dockery was shot in the head on a call and went into a coma in September 1988. He spent almost 8 years under constant medical supervision in a nursing home. It seemed to relatives that there was no chance. But in 1996 he needed lung surgery.
After the operation, Dockery suddenly spoke up. It turned out that he perfectly remembers his family, friends, and even his car.
But he did not have a chance to enjoy the return to life for a long time. Less than a day later, his internal organs began to fail, and a few days later the policeman died.

Chinese woman Zhao Guihua survived a car accident in 1978, which caused her to fall into a coma. Years passed, she, being in a coma, underwent several operations, but did not come to her senses. All this time, Chen Dulin's husband did not leave his wife a single step: he courted, talked, reported about what was happening in their life and in the world.
And now, 30 years later (in 2008), Zhao Guihua suddenly woke up, and her loving, 77-year-old husband was still nearby.

44-year-old firefighter Donald Herbert was piled with rubble in 1995 while extinguishing a fire. He received a severe brain injury, was without oxygen for a long time and fell into a coma.
