There can be many reasons why we abandon the series that was started, from the lengthy history and no longer funny sitcoms to lack of time. AdMe.ru talks about how popular TV series ended, which not all fans reached the end of.
Supernatural (2005–2020)
What is the series about?: about two brothers - hunters for evil spirits who travel across the country investigating paranormal phenomena and fighting the creatures of darkness.
How did it end: in the final episode, Sam and Dean Winchesters go on the trail of vampires they encountered during their first hunt 14 years ago: among them is the woman whom they once could not save from transformation. During the battle with the vampires, only Sam remains alive, and Dean goes to heaven. He meets Bobby Singer there, a man who during his lifetime became practically a second father for the brothers, and also learned that his parents and his brother lived nearby. Sam also starts a family and names his son after his deceased brother. He grows old and at the end of his life goes to heaven, reuniting there with Dean on the same bridge from the pilot episode.
House of Cards (2013–2018)
What is the series about?: The political thriller tells us about the ambitious Congressman Frank Underwood. He helps Garrett Walker take the presidency in exchange for a promise to make him Secretary of State, but after the election he is informed that he will not get the position. Together with his wife, Frank intends to take revenge on the newly made president.
How did it end: Frank Underwood dies under mysterious circumstances. His wife Claire holds the presidency, and the former sponsors of her husband, Annette and Bill Shepards, become her enemies, because she does not seek to fulfill past obligations to them. Annette decides to make an attempt on Claire and believes that Underwood's former assistant, Doug Stamper, is the best fit for this purpose. He meets with Claire in her office and reveals that he is responsible for what happened to Frank. Stamper injures Claire, but she manages to injure him in return. Doug gives up in Claire's arms, and the scene ends with her saying, "There is no more pain."
Vikings (2013–2020)
What is the series about?: a free interpretation of the Scandinavian sagas about the raids of the northerners in England, about the semi-legendary king named Ragnar Lothbrok, about his sons and wife - the warrior Lagertha.
How did it end: Bjorn Ironside, seriously wounded in the battle with the Rus, leaves this world. While his two widows, Gunnhilda and Ingrid, decide which of them will take the throne of the Kattegat, King Harald intervenes in their plans, who intends to marry them both and rule on his own. Gunnhilda chose to follow her late husband Björn, while Ingrid is married to a new king.
In the principality of Kiev, Ivar Beskostny, Khvitserk and young Prince Igor, with the help of Oleg's wife, make a secret escape to Novgorod without being noticed. Soon they return to Kiev already with Dir's army, and young Igor slays Oleg with an arrow. Ivar and Hvitserk return to Kattegat, where they and Harald are planning an attack on Wessex. In the battle, Ivar goes to Valhalla, also meets his peace and King Harald, and Khvitserk, having said goodbye to his brother, adopts Christianity. In Kattegat, Ingrid, Harald's widow, becomes a kune (queen, king's wife - Approx. Bright Side).
At this time, Ubbe, his wife Torvi and a group of immigrants, having survived a grueling journey on a drakkar, land on an unknown land (apparently in North America), where they meet local residents. They tell the Vikings about a certain Madman, who once also sailed to these lands, and introduce him. The long-lost Floki turns out to be a madman. In the final scene, Ubbe and Floki sit on the ocean and speculate about the future.

Skins (2007–2013)
What is the series about?: about the life of a group of British teenagers, each with their own problems and fleeting joys.
How did it end: the final season tells us about the fate of the matured heroes of the 1st and 2nd generations in London. Effie Stonem works as the secretary of a large company, and she starts an affair with her boss. Soon she falls under suspicion of fraud, after which she betrays her lover, who was involved in the scam, and prepares for trial.
As for Cassie Ainsworth, it turns out that Syd did find her in New York after she disappeared and they spent several years traveling. After that, Cassie returned to London and now works as a waitress in a cafe. Her father is planning a trip to Italy with her younger brother, but Cassie persuades her brother to stay in London and sees her father off.
James Cook has been in hiding for 3 years: it turns out that he dealt with John Foster in season 4 and has been on the run since then. His boss is a man associated with illegal trade. By the end of the episode dedicated to him, Cook manages to solve all his problems.
True Blood (2008–2014)
What is the series about?: Since scientists invented artificial blood, vampires have no longer needed to hide and hunt people. But not all people were ready for the fact that they now live next door to vampires, and not all vampires agree to give up their old habits.
How did it end: Bill gets hepatitis. To recover, it is enough for him to taste the blood of Sarah Newlin, but he refuses and asks Sookie to help him die by using her power for this - thus she would get rid of the gift. Sookie, however, decides to keep her power, but she still fulfills Bill's request. 4 years later, Eric and Pam run a huge corporation, because thanks to them, Yakanomo no longer exists. They claim that Sarah Newlin escaped from them, but they found a sample of her blood, from which they synthesized a medicine and a new food source for vampires. But in reality, Pam is holding Sarah imprisoned in the basement. In the town of Bon Tam, vampires and mortals celebrate Thanksgiving Day: we are shown pregnant Sookie and her new lover, although his face is not visible, and we can only guess who he is.
Silicon Valley (2014–2019)
What is the series about?: about a group of talented programmers from San Francisco trying to start their business in Silicon Valley.
How did it end: Richard's company makes a multimillion-dollar deal with AT&T to create a decentralized internet on its own platform, but on the eve of launch, Richard discovers that Pied Paper is able to bypass any encryption methods due to the artificial intelligence in the program has become too advanced. Bertram Guilfoyle suggests disrupting the launch of the program. He claims that this is the only way not to compromise all of the world's privacy. Richard agrees, and on launch day, he manages to inject erroneous code into the launch system at the last moment.
We are shown the main characters 10 years later: Richard became a professor at Stanford University, Monica works for the National Security Agency, Guilfoyle and Dinesh opened their own firm, Gavin Bells became a popular writer. In the final, the entire development team gathers at the same table, and Richard wants to show the audience the media with Pied Paper, which he hid, but cannot find it.
Magnificent century (2011–2014)
What is the series about?: events cover a significant period of the existence of the Ottoman Empire. The series is inspired by real events that took place during the reign of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent.
How did it end: after the departure of Hurrem Sultan to another world, Suleiman closes in himself. Relations between his sons Selim and Bayezid became very aggravated, and the sultan decides to send them to rule the provinces remote from Istanbul. Bayazid, dissatisfied with this decision, gathered supporters for the riot, which is why he was sentenced along with his sons. On the verge of death, Suleiman recalls the day of his ascension to the throne. After the Sultan, his only surviving son Selim becomes the new padishah. At the end of the episode, Syumbul-aga, a faithful servant of Alexandra Anastasia Lisowska, reads the diary of his mistress and cries. He enters the harem, and he hears the voices of its inhabitants, who are no longer alive.

Hannibal (2013–2015)
What is the series about?: trying to track down a maniac, FBI analyst Will Graham turns to psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter for help, who becomes his consultant.
How did it end: In the final episode, Dr. Hannibal Lecter and Will meet in a decisive battle with a dangerous assassin called the Red Dragon. Together they manage to defeat the enemy, but both are seriously wounded during the fight. Standing on a cliff near Hannibal's country house, the main characters embrace, and Mads Mikkelsen's character says that this is what he always wanted - for Will and for both of them.
The Mentalist (2008-2015)
What is the series about?: Patrick Jane, a psychologist who once pretended to be psychic, now works for the California Bureau of Investigation and helps solve especially serious crimes. In parallel with this, he is looking for a cruel maniac who took the life of his wife and daughter.
How did it end: Patrick proposes to Teresa Lisbon, followed by a lavish wedding. On the eve it turns out that Joe Keller, aka Lazarus, who is guilty of kidnapping Patrick, is still alive and is going to ambush the newlyweds right on their holiday. However, at the wedding he is detained by the FBI squad, and the criminal's plan fails. Patrick and Teresa are about to leave the bureau and the department is headed by Kimbell Cho.
Twin Peaks (1990-2017)
What is the series about?: Special Agent Dale Cooper is investigating the massacre of high school student Laura Palmer, whose body was found on the lake. During the investigation, Cooper realizes that everything in this town is not what it seems.
How did it end: The final season of Twin Peaks was only released in 2017, and it fully reveals the theme of evil counterparts from the first seasons. At the end of season 2, recall, such a Dale Cooper double from the Black Lodge entered our world instead of the agent himself, taking with him the evil spirit of Bob. Upon learning that evil had come to the world, the spirits of the White Lodge created the soul of Laura Palmer and sent it to earth. Her task, as it becomes clear from the 3rd season, is to fight evil. Bob manages to defeat, but it is not Cooper who does it: the spirits of the White Lodge send another assistant, Freddie Sykes in a green glove, with the help of a prophetic dream. Many viewers were indignant that the scene of the battle between Freddie and Bob looks like a mockery of the expectations of all fans, but David Lynch does nothing for nothing, and if this moment looked like that, then it was intended that way.
After Bob has been defeated (probably even destroyed), Dale Cooper meets with Agent Jeffries in a new guise, accompanied by the spirit of Mike. After the conversation, Cooper tries to save Laura in the past, but when he leads the girl through the forest, she disappears with an inhuman scream - probably the only way to prevent the time paradox. Cooper and Diana make another attempt to save Laura and go to an alternate world, where they become alternate versions of themselves, Richard and Linda. In this reality, Laura Palmer is alive, but her name is Carrie Page, and she works as a waitress in another city. Cooper asks her the question, "What year is it?" - and then something happens about which one can only hypothesize. Carrie (Laura) suddenly hears her mother's voice, starts screaming, and the world plunges into darkness.
However, you yourself understand: words are not enough to explain everything that happens in Lynch's creation. Even seeing all the actions in the series with your own eyes, sometimes you cannot understand what it all means. So we recommend everyone who is interested to watch the final season and try to solve Lynch's riddles on their own.
