The body of Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya was found under the windows of a house on 1905 Street in Moscow. According to REN TV, the tragedy took place on the night of July 18.
"Now law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident," wrote the Telegram channel "112".
As TASS later clarified, citing a law enforcement source, the skater committed suicide.
"The preliminary cause of death is suicide," the source said.
It also became known that Aleksandrovskaya left a suicide note. It was written one word: "I love."
Alexandrovskaya was born on January 1, 2000 in Moscow. Until the end of 2011, she performed as a single skater, but after moving to Dnepropetrovsk in the spring of the following year, she began to train in pair skating with Vladislav Lysov, a Ukrainian participant in the I Winter Youth Olympic Games. In 2014, the skater returned to Russia and began performing with Alexander Epifanov, and two years later, at the invitation of the Australian Federation, she changed her sports citizenship and represented Australia in tandem with Harley Windsor under the guidance of Russian coaches Nina Moser and Andrey Hekalo. At the end of the Olympic season, the couple decided to change coaches in the offseason and moved from Moscow to Montreal to work with Canadian specialist Richard Gaultier.

Alexandrovskaya and Windsor became world junior champions (2016/17), twice won the gold championships in Australia (2016/17, 2018/19) and won the final of the Junior Grand Prix (2016/17). In addition, they took part in the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, where they took 18th place and failed to qualify for the final part of the competition. The girl showed her best career results playing for the Australian national team: 190.31 points on the sum of two programs (in 2017 at the Nebelhorn tournament in Oberstdorf), 66.45 for the short program (the championship of the four continents in 2018) and 125.80 for the free program (on the Nebelhorn Trophy in 2017).
“She was a capable athlete. The last time I saw her on the ice a long time ago, when she played for the Australian national team, ”said Alexander Gorshkov, President of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR).
“The last time I saw her was at the Junior World Championships in 2017, where she became the champion in pair skating. A normal happy child, there was not even a thought about any problems. They won the world championship, we all congratulated her, she was so happy, ”said former Aleksandrovskaya coach Svetlana Sokolovskaya, who coached her early in her career.
Until recently, the skater trained in Canada, but recently received a sports injury and flew to Russia. According to sources, after returning to Moscow, Alexandrovskaya began to feel depressed, in connection with which she began to visit a psychologist. On the night the girl died, she returned home intoxicated, after which she was found dead. It is assumed that it was the mental disorder that caused the suicide. Previously, she had already tried to commit suicide due to her injury.
“Ekaterina suffered from prolonged depression. In Moscow, the skater tried to participate in television shows, but her career never worked out. Alexandrovskaya even turned to psychologists, but they, unfortunately, could not help her, ”writes“ 112 ”.

After Aleksandrovskaya's death, the athlete's mother was taken to a psychiatric hospital. The woman, having learned about the death of her daughter, went through a shock and could not recover, and then her condition worsened significantly, which is why the doctors decided to hospitalize her.
“Katya grew up before our eyes, she came to the group as a very young girl, at the age of 13. When she skated in our group, there were no problems - an absolutely normal child, a good athlete, no tantrums in training, an adequate, efficient skater. And when we talked with her, there were no signs of trouble, it was difficult to imagine such a finale. We are familiar with her mother, and now I would like to convey her words of support, ”said two-time Olympic champion and coach Maxim Trankov.
