According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, lip augmentation requests in the period from 2000 to 2016 increased by 50%. Many women wanted to have the same plump lips as Angelina Jolie. But now there is a new trend in surgery - lip suturing.
The lip-closure procedure is especially popular in Asian countries, says plastic surgeon from New York, Dr. Melissa Doft. The upper lip is cut into two parts, remove excess skin and sutured. Thus, the lip becomes curved in the shape of rifle bow.
As a rule, the operation takes place under local anesthesia and takes from 15 to 30 minutes. The stitches are held for a week, and after that they either dissolve or are removed by the surgeon. The pain of eating, for example, is not significant, but doctors recommend that you stick to your diet and eat soft foods until the swelling subsides.
A lip-lining procedure costs from $ 1000 to $ 3000. However, the price varies greatly depending on the country and city of operation. And, unlike the injections, which “dissolve” in a year and which need to be repeated, lip reduction is a one-time operation.
