Joan Nathan, an expert in Jewish cuisine, who is considered a kind of "Julia Child" in the national cuisine of Israel, came up with an original dish - matzo dumplings, seasoned with marijuana, says New York Post.
“They should be ... lighthearted,” Nathan says. "I don't think a little bit of marijuana is crazy." Matzo dumplings are traditionally made from special flour, butter, eggs with salt, pepper and lard. Joan's controversial recipe also includes small amounts of cannabidiol, a non-psychoactive marijuana derivative. Cannabidiol is known to reduce the sensations of pain, anxiety, and even slow down inflammation without having a mental effect.
Nathan says that she never smoked “weed” (“I have something to do with my life without it”), but she ate it twice. In a promotional video for the new dish, she adds a pinch of cannabis leaves to the soup to make it "flavorful, cute and green." Some Israeli foodies disagree with her approach, considering the idea a desecration of the idea of Shabbat. “How can you add a drug to a traditional family meal?” The culinary experts ask. Although there are supporters who consider the idea to be original.
Joan herself claims that the marijuana idea is a one-off. “I myself prefer matzo dumplings with ginger and nutmeg,” says the chef.
