'No glamor': what is it really like to be a flight attendant?

Ideal figures and well-groomed faces, flawless hairstyles and gorgeous costumes - girls probably dream of becoming flight attendants no less than princesses. But is this work so beautiful? Annette Long, a stewardess with 13 years of experience, and her colleagues shared with reporters Business Insider stories from your daily life.
It turns out that the profession of a “heavenly swallow” is by no means as fabulous as it might seem from the ground. “This is a far cry from the word“ glamorous ”. Even if you work in first or business class, there is nothing glamorous here, ”says Annette. Several employees of unnamed airlines joined her opinion, who in a few words completely dispelled popular misconceptions of passengers.
One of the myths says that employees are constantly having fun and rest during the breaks between flights - of course, because they visit so many countries. “We spend most of our stops in bed with wine and TV shows,” says one of the flight attendants. The staff is so tired that during the breaks they can either rest or sleep after a 15-hour shift.
The staff challenged the myth that the job of a flight attendant is simple: serve drinks and point out emergency exits. “It takes years for no one to notice your sweat and for perfecting customer service,” says the stewardess. “Our work is dangerous, physically demanding and requires enormous responsibility for the lives and safety of passengers.”
It is a mistake to believe that all flight attendants use stops to have sex with each other, or have lovers all over the world, just as it is wrong that all male stewards are gay. “Many of us are married and have children, and almost no one is looking for overnight stops,” said one of the flight attendants.
Employees of the airlines said that innovations in servicing the first and business classes are not easy - because of this, you can take off from work, putting your career at risk. Therefore, mastering new knowledge and skills takes place very quickly, and this requires remarkable strength and intellectual resources.
