Myth 1. All Americans are obese
This is not entirely true. In the western states, fat people are several times less than in the eastern ones. In the east, you can indeed find a large number of overweight people, even obese, but in the west, this is much better. Speaking specifically about California, many people there are obsessed with good nutrition, sports and an overall healthy lifestyle.
Myth 2. American food is unhealthy and tasteless
Food in America is rubbery, tasteless, and in general they sell solid fast food - have you ever heard such a statement? So: you cannot agree with him. In fact, Americans hardly ever go to McDonald's at home; these establishments are almost always half empty. But the United States is full of so-called healthy fast foods: Chinese, Japanese, Hawaiian. There are no fatty burgers and fries - it is practically homemade food: meat with vegetables and rice, and from fast food there is only one word “fast” (fast - “fast”), because cooking is really fast.
Myth 3. America is a land of skyscrapers
In fact, skyscrapers and high-rise buildings in the United States are located mainly in business centers, while the rest of America consists of residential areas with one-story, maximum two-story houses. Therefore, in order to buy their own home, almost every American uses a mortgage, it is very rare to just come and buy a home for cash in the USA.
Myth 4. The USA has a low level of education
It is not true. There are more Nobel laureates in America than in any other country in the world - about 350. Higher educational institutions of the United States annually enter the top of the best. In addition, modern technologies are now trending in the United States: electric cars, the launch of Space X, a large space program. That is, advanced technologies are highly valued and actively developed. But there are other statistics - every tenth resident of the United States has no higher education.
Many say that children in American schools do nothing, they just play with toys, but in our schools, as soon as you come to first grade, they will immediately load them with lessons. But the US is really just a different education system. In elementary grades, it is believed that the child must first be adapted to school life, he should not be immediately 100% loaded. You need to start small and slowly increase the amount of information. Intensive education starts here from secondary school, where children are already quite busy, and the maximum load is, of course, senior classes.

Myth 5. Americans only drive domestic cars
Many of our compatriots think so before they come to the USA. Americans, of course, love their native Chevrolet brand very much - this is both patriotic and quite profitable for the money. But this does not mean that they all and always buy themselves only American cars. Americans, for example, are very fond of Japanese cars - they value them for their reliability and quality. If we are talking about California, such cars as Honda, Lexus, BMW are in great demand there. And if you take Florida, for example, Hundai, Kia, Mercedes and BMW are preferred there.
Myth 6. US residents don't like newcomers
You have probably heard this myth more than once that Americans hate newcomers, including Russians. But the United States is a country of immigrants - someone came here in the first generation, someone in the second, and someone just now, and it doesn't matter. The indigenous people of America are Indians, and the rest came here.

Americans always respect people who do not know English well, no matter how strange it may sound, because they understand: you are learning a second language, while you know one perfectly - Russian. Therefore, Americans will always help you everywhere - at the checkout, in a store, in a government office. Basically, they tend to help by nature, that's their mentality.
Myth 7. On a date, everyone pays for themselves.
Last but not least popular myth. I can say that it always depends on those present at the meeting. Of course, a woman can pay for herself, and a man - for himself, especially if they agree on this in advance. But this is not always the case. The initiator of a date is not only a man, but also a woman, and they can pay the bill as they see fit.
