When people have been paired for a long time, they may begin to think that they know everything about each other. But a girl from England found out how serious this error is, writes Medialeaks with reference to The Mirror. In the Slate.com podcast, Dear Prudence, hosted by Daniel Mallory Ortberg, it became known about an unusual case that destroyed one family.
Ortberg read a letter from a woman who shared with him an unpleasant fact from a family biography, but decided to remain anonymous. The message says that the girl and her husband grew up in a small town together and they have a two-year-old son, whom they safely bring up in love and care.
But, when the wife decided to give her husband a birthday surprise and prepare a non-standard gift, everything went wrong, because the couple found out about each other that they never wanted to know. And you will not wish such revelations to anyone.
The girl decided to move away from stereotypical presents and bought a DNA test for the holiday to help her beloved find out the story of his life, but when the results returned, she regretted that such an idea came to her mind.
“The DNA test results showed that my husband and I are actually paternal cousins. This news excited me and tore my husband's world to shreds, ”she said.

Although the woman was clearly upset because of the revelation that her husband was also her cousin, this was not the only thing that shocked her. After all, the news on the results of a DNA test also meant that one member of her family was unfaithful in marriage.
“His parents have been married for 30 years and my husband has always considered his mother a saint. Now he does not speak to me, we sleep in different rooms. Our son is already beginning to notice the situation. This secret poisons my marriage, and I am terrified that it will destroy my family, ”the girl admits.
The girl does not know how to tell her father-in-law about the news, because he values the family biography very much: "The father-in-law constantly tells how he married the first girl he ever kissed, and this news will kill him."
She added that she feels unable to trust her mother or sisters and that she does not know what to do. An anonymous sufferer admitted that she was supposed to visit her family, but now the trip was postponed indefinitely. The only thing she knows for sure is that her marriage was more than not ideal.
At the same time, the owners of the podcast were not surprised by the story and said that they know a lot of people who were in a similar situation. They advised the couple to go for therapy and think carefully next time before buying a DNA test.
