Efremov pleaded guilty to an accident in the center of Moscow, as a result of which a person died. The prosecution requested 11 years in prison as a punishment, writes "RBK"... Mikhail also read a poem dedicated to the memory of the driver Sergei Zakharov.
Actor Mikhail Efremov, accused of a fatal accident, pleaded guilty at a meeting in the Presnensky Court of Moscow.
Efremov made his statement after the judge asked if he was against starting the debate of the parties in the absence of his second lawyer Yelizaveta Shargorodskaya.

The representative of the state prosecution recommended that the court be skeptical about the testimony of witnesses who said that Efremov was not driving the car during the accident, the RBC correspondent reports. The prosecutor asked the actor for a sentence of 11 years in prison.
“The title of artist does not give the right to drive drunk. It is necessary to remember about the terrible death of Zakharov, all the body and organs were fragmented, ”said the representative of the state prosecution.

The accident involving Efremov occurred on June 8. The actor's car flew at speed into the oncoming lane in the area of Smolenskaya Square in Moscow. As a result, there was a head-on collision with a van driven by a courier Sergei Zakharov. The man died from his injuries in the hospital.
The examination established that the actor got behind the wheel in a state of alcoholic and drug intoxication. Efremov was charged under paragraph "a" of Part 4 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic rules in a state of intoxication, resulting in the death of a person by negligence).
After the accident, a video appeared in which Efremov says that he was driving at the time of the accident. However, later, the actor said that it was edited, and he admitted his fault for the accident "because he was nervous with a hangover."
“In fact, I am not to blame,” Efremov said earlier.
In early August, he completely refused to admit his guilt.
"How can I plead guilty if I don't remember anything?" - said the actor. According to him, on the day of the accident, he drank a bottle of vodka at home, and then "looked for beer in a taxi."
“I dimly begin to remember this day, from five to six in the evening,” declared Efremov.
In addition to the fact that the actor first admitted his guilt, and then refused it, the testimony of witnesses also confused the case. One of them claimed that a "Slavic-looking man of about 38 years old" was driving the car during the accident, while Yefremov himself "sat 100% in the passenger seat." This witness confessed that he was blind in one eye, and that the other had myopia, “minus three”.
Another witness also reported that there were two people in the car. According to him, "a tall man in a baseball cap" sat in the back seat of the actor's car.

After Efremov's statements and witness statements, Zakharov's son asked the court to put Efremov in prison for eight years. His representative clarified that such a statement was caused by the behavior of the actor, who "his own emotions are more important than the emotions of the victims."
Under the article under which Efremov was charged, the actor faces up to 12 years in prison.
