Two toddlers who have been abused in their own families have found warmth and love in their new mother, a nurse from Jacksonville, who adopted the children after rehab at the hospital.
At one year old, the twins Delilah and Carolyn were admitted to the children's hospital. Wolfson as a result of the injuries that parents deliberately inflicted, tells Fox News.
Jess Hamm, a local nurse, fell in love with one of the girls at first sight, barely seeing her in the intensive care unit. At first she met little Delilah, who was barely alive:
“My heart was breaking. She was just lifeless, but she still held onto my finger. ”
Delilah had broken bones, a skull was broken, the girl suffered from severe malnutrition. By the 14 months, the baby could not sit or hold the bottle on her own, she was so weak.
“Damn it, I'll take her home!” Hamm promised herself at that moment.
The woman went through the necessary procedures in the Florida Department of Children and Families to accept little girls in her family; In the process, she learned that Delilah had a sister named Caroline, who was also in the hospital. Jess adopted both girls.
Now their days are filled with smiles, studying the world around us, songs that the new mother sings to the daughters. Thanks to Jess' s unconditional love, girls are actively developing and have already caught up with their peers. The babes are very different, Jess admits. Caroline loves to communicate, and Delilah loves to play more independently.
Hamm always wanted to be a mom. “I hope when people hear my story, it will open up new opportunities for them,” says Jess.
