The handle of a supermarket trolley is one of the dirtiest places you touch. You can, of course, use gloves, but the American hostess suggested another solution: a pad that can be washed. It is more pleasant to the touch than a plastic or metal handle, in addition, you will know for sure that no one but you has touched this object. A detailed master class from Beth Huntington offers eHow.
The author recommends keeping your pad in a plastic zip bag until use. In the store, sanitize your hands and attach the cover to the handle of the cart. After completing your purchases, fold the lining back into the bag, and throw it in the laundry at home.
What you need:
- Two pieces of fabric measuring 5 3/4 by 15 inches (14,5 by 38 cm)
- Pins
- Sharp scissors
- Clasp (hook and loop fastener) 14 inches (35,5 cm) long
Step 1
Fold both pieces of fabric with their sides facing each other and fasten with pins. Sew all sides, leaving a 5-inch (12,7 cm) hole in one of the longer sides. Take out the pins while sewing.
Step 2
Cut the corners and turn the product to the front side through the hole left. You can use a pencil or chopsticks for this.

Step 3
Align all edges for even and clear product lines. Insert the raw edges into the hole left and iron the product. Close the hole left with pins.
Step 4
Sew all the edges. Be sure to remove the pins while sewing.
Step 5
Place one half of the fastener on the long edge of the fabric next to the stitch line. Secure with pins.
Flip and place the other half of the clasp on the other long edge next to the stitch line. Secure with pins. Fixed places should be on opposite sides and opposite edges of the product.
Step 6
Sew all four sides of the clasp. Turn over and sew all four sides of the second half of the fastener.
