Personal experience: employment after immigration

When we were driving here, we knew that in the morning we would go to learn the language and that Kirill would need a part-time job for the evening, so I probably won't tell you anything surprising - my husband got a job at fast food. I found a job very easily, and even two jobs. I chose which was better and settled on a pizza delivery. Nothing special, but the salary, gasoline compensation and tips are excellent!
Anticipating the questions: we do not regret that we moved here despite this kind of work, because the final goals are completely different, but at first it will do!
It’s very easy to get such a job, but only legally. Without permission to work with you they will not even talk!
Let's go further ... Illegally, it is quite easy for boys to get a job - and this will be a construction site. About $ 12-15 per hour, but the work is physically hard. On the other hand, when there are no options, you agree to any. It is more difficult for girls to find jobs illegally. Probably, at best, it will be someone's nanny, because not everyone will allow a stranger to approach their child without recommendations. Salary $ 5-10 per hour.
Cyril was offered as an option to work as a school bus driver with a salary of 18 $ per hour. This option did not suit us, because with full-time work any study will fly to hell, and the rest of my life working as a driver is somehow sad.
Continuing the theme of leadership, you can learn to drive a truck and drive around America and sometimes outside. On average, drivers get $ 5-6 thousand per month. Many choose this path after immigration.
If you have a diploma of an English teacher, then you can quite get a job here without confirming anything! It is enough only to evaluate the diploma and go with him for an interview. Our school teacher of English just got a job, having only Ukrainian diploma.
In addition, if you have a translator’s diploma in addition to your higher education (many universities practice this when you get the main specialty and translation for 5 for years), then you can become an assistant teacher of English in a language school. Many Russian speakers begin to learn English without having any, even the most basic, knowledge. And how should they understand the teacher if he is American? For this, there are teacher assistants who will convey the essence to Russian students. Kirill almost got such a job (he was lucky to get such a diploma at one time, sorry I didn’t go ...), he was like a practitioner, but this exactly coincides with our study schedule, plus the teacher of those classes was not the most adequate, therefore, we decided to go the other way ...
If you were a God-appointed tax accountant in your home country, here you can complete annual courses, get a license and count taxes. This work is very much appreciated and quoted! I just saw a lot of ads: required, required, required !!! Maybe the salary at first will not be the highest, but you will definitely find work, and then everything depends on you!
Here you can get a job in a bank as an ordinary clerk with a salary of $ 10-13 per hour, without having any higher education. To do this, you only need to get a local high school diploma (free of charge), after studying at school for about a year (and it does not depend on age. I have an 45-year-old friend who goes to school).
If everything is more or less in order with English, if you, plus or minus, understand that you speak English and can answer, and there is some higher education from your homeland, then you can get a job as a social worker sitting in the office and telling immigrants with refugee status about the various programs that exist here, and helping to adapt. Salary of $ 33-36 thousand per year (just the day before yesterday I saw such an announcement). Not a lot, but quite enough to start. And if there are two people working in the family, then very well.

If you decide on a longer path and enter a college / university, then naturally, after graduation, you will see completely different roads and opportunities. In general, everything depends on you!
As for me, I have not yet decided who I want to become here! As an option, I am considering continuing my studies in my economic specialty, and then - who knows.
