Today at the courses we had a fire alarm!
Fire alarms in the United States are no different from our Russian: students must take the most necessary things and, under the supervision of a teacher, leave the building and go out into the open space.
The coolest thing is that California also has an earthquake alert, because... Are earthquakes common here?, and in other states, according to our teacher, there is even a tsunami alert!
Well, before, during the Cold War, there was an alarm in the event of a nuclear strike from the USSR.
As our teacher said, Nancy, who was then in elementary school, all the children had to come to the first floor, sit down on their knees, leaning against the wall, and cover their heads with their hands.
“It hardly would have helped, but we even had special exercises every year,” she added with a laugh.
So here, and I did not even think that in the United States this was before. They were afraid of the USSR. Interestingly, did we have similar alarms in case of a nuclear strike only from the US? We must ask the parents.))
