Many Russian-speaking immigrants living in the United States are wondering: How to absorb the American accent?
Today I decided to share with you my experience. It is clear that for the beginning it would be necessary to learn the language normally in order to absorb something.))
But I am surprised by the people who came from Russia-Ukraine and lived in the USA on 2-3, and even 10 for years, and do not even try to smooth the accent, at least somehow. And the worst thing is that a person doesn't care!
I openly asked why you are not even trying to reduce your woodiness (and there really are straight open vowels in Russian like May name from Petya! Ai em from Russia. Clearly, with feeling, with an arrangement! To which they answered me - why? If necessary, they will understand me anyway, and if they don't, I will explain with gestures.
It seems to me that this is some kind of disrespect for the language and for others! I understand if a person replied that it still does not work, I practice, I try, I slowly go to the correct pronunciation, but so far I can't. But no - why bother ?!
Even I, quietly with myself, try to pronounce as it would be right. It is clear that our Russian accent is very audible both to our ear and to the American one, but, as it seems to me, there is no limit to perfection.
