The court is considering the case of plagiarism of the song "Cuckoo" by Viktor Tsoi: Olga Kormukhina continues to defend her rights to the original revision.
The latter was made by the artist together with the leader of the Gorky Park group, Alexei Belov, and was approved by the son of the leader of the Kino group in 2010. Kormukhina is sure that this particular version was used by Polina Gagarina in the soundtrack to the film "Battle for Sevastopol". However, Konstantin Meladze was already indicated there as the author of the music.
The Tverskoy court considered it necessary to involve the producer in the process.
"Neither the defendant - Gagarina, nor the heirs of Tsoi can provide any documents about the history of the processing of Meladze's version, - explained the representative of Olga Kormukhina Valeria Rytvina. - In addition, during the release of the film, their rights were formalized on the basis of invalid contracts. Therefore, it is necessary to listen to Konstantin's comments and look at his documents. "
Since 1993, the rights to "Kukushka" have not been owned by the heirs of Tsoi, but by a certain management company. Therefore, artists wishing to perform this or that composition sign contracts with it.

However, the papers, according to which Meladze and Gagarina had the right to rework the song, were declared invalid by the Basmanny Court. With Olga, everything is within the law - no one disputed the documents.
The singer is sure that the defendant's side is trying to delve too deeply into the rights and deviates from the essence of the dispute - the issue of plagiarism. And thus, the court has been diverting the court for a year. At the same time, a number of experts really considered the options of Kormukhina and Meladze to be very similar. Anyway, the next meeting is scheduled for September 25th. Perhaps the music producer will give his comments on it.
