The two-month-old daughter Daria Vasilyeva cannot be picked up from the clinic of Antalya because of debts. In the sixth month, premature birth was not included in the travel insurance, and the corresponding services in the local clinic were very expensive for the family.
Rest is over. Parents left Turkey, but without a daughter. Turkish doctors, according to the couple, do not want to give up the child without paying bills, tells Present Tense.

“From June 29 to June 30 I felt bad, my stomach twisted. The ambulance did not arrive, an ordinary car and an ordinary driver arrived at five in the morning and took us to the hospital. We did not reach the hospital. We stopped at a gas station and my child was born at the gas station, ”the woman says.
Already from the gas station a woman with a premature baby was taken to the clinic of Antalya. During the day of the hospital stay, 3,5 had to pay thousands of dollars. The Vasilievs did not have such money. Paid everything that was - 1,5 thousands. According to Vasilyevs, the doctors set an ultimatum: either the whole course of treatment is paid for, or the daughter will remain in the clinic. Home Kazakhstan tourists had to return without a child.
“We flew out at our own peril and risk, thinking that we are here on our side, here with support we can somehow find out, take the child,” says Vasilyeva.
Representatives of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry are already aware of this problem. However, they have a different version of this story. They say the parents did not warn the doctors and left the clinic without even looking at their daughter.
“According to Turkish doctors, the parents wrote a written statement that they were refusing treatment, and left the clinic without leaving any contacts. Further, upon the arrival of the parents in Kazakhstan, they turned to the Turkish consulate with a request to issue a certificate of the child's death. However, the clinic began looking for parents. Now everything is fine with the child, but care is required. The child can be taken, but having paid all the costs of treatment, ”Aibek Madiyarov, head of the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry, told Real Time.
According to Madiyarov, the foreign ministry can only help with a translator and accompaniment. But the debts for medical services Vasiliev must pay themselves.
Similar stories abroad happen, but not often, told in a travel agency, where the Vasilievs bought a ticket. Perhaps all this did not happen if the tourists themselves were interested in their safety and purchased additional insurance. But it is more expensive, and more often tourists save on it.
“The insurance covers: SARS, flu, colds, stretch marks, appendicitis, acute toothache, but does not cover pregnancy. Unfortunately, no insurance company in Kazakhstan covers pregnancy and the costs associated with it. But I warn you if I see that the girl is pregnant, ”says the manager of the company Zhanna Yildirim.
Despite the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to Vasilyeva, she is not going to give up her daughter. There is no money for debts to the clinic, which have already grown to $ 15 thousand. Although, according to lawyer Ayman Umarova, this conflict should have been resolved in a civil manner.
“And here is the responsibility of everyone: the doctors who were allowed to fly up to 24 weeks, the second - she herself had to be responsible in such a situation. And third, with regard to Turkey, the consulate had to react. After all, these are our citizens. This attitude of the consulate is unacceptable. Not to extradite the child - I also consider it illegal, because there is no such thing - not to extradite the child, ”said the lawyer.
