Shakhnazarov returned from the Cannes Film Festival in 1995 and found an empty apartment in which he lived with his wife and child. For some time, Shakhnazarov tried to find Anna, but after several years he abandoned the attempt, accepting that his wife decided to “look for a better life” with her daughter. Karen met Anna 20 years later, at a hotel near Central Park in New York.
