The father of 19-year-old Merlin Blackmore, 21-year-old brother Warren, and 19-year-old half-brother Murray is the leader of the Mormon sect "Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" Winston Blackmore. All three brothers left the church, and Merlin also left Canada.
“It's pretty crazy, but at one point my father had 26 wives (now there are 27 - ed.),” Warren says. “They belonged to six different groups of sisters. There were two groups of three different sisters and separately four groups of four different sisters from another family. "

The oldest of his brothers is 44 years old, and the youngest is only a year old. Simultaneously with Merlin, two more children of Winston Blackmore were born - his half-sister and brother, who had other mothers.
Warren recalls that at school he was constantly surrounded by relatives.
“There were five of my brothers, four sisters, seven cousins and two nephews in my class,” he says. "I went to school with my nephews, we were the same age."
Winston Blackmore and his followers lived in the Canadian settlement of Bountiful, a community founded in 1946 and uniting 1,5 supporters of polygamy. They got their own food, and the commune's economy is built on the principle of natural exchange. Some of the sectarian's wives were minors.
