I was asked many times to tell how to conquer New York. I put these questions together and I got a personal interview. The questions here are very different, they were asked to me personally, in social networks, on Skype, by phone. Here is a complete FAQ (Frequently asked questions), abbreviated manual for both beginners and experienced ones. Here are collected my thoughts, experiences, and most importantly - the findings and answers to the very controversial questions that arise in all those who conquer America.
Having arrived in the USA, you are at first absorbed in the feelings of the new and the unknown, then you begin to slowly understand, make mistakes and learn from the locals with rich life experience and experience. Now, after so many years spent in the United States, it is in the American environment, and not in Eastern European America, I think I am finally ready to reveal “all the secrets and secrets” of being and conquering ...
How long have you come to America and where are you from?
(♥) Yulia: I arrived 7 years ago. I myself come from Ulyanovsk (as I always explain to my local friends the “City of Lenin”.

In America, you will have to TALK with people instead of writing dissertations with perfect grammar.
All my life I have dreamed of living in America, therefore the specialty has chosen to be related to English. And the name was tempting: “International Relations”. In addition, I signed up for English courses, I wanted to pull him up to the trip even more.
At the time of my first trip to the States, I had a solid Upper-Intermediate. My first job was in the diner. The menu in the 11 pages and very talkative customers, who are often asked to bring a napkin, then an additional sauce, the name of which I have never heard.
To learn slang in super-accelerated mode during a hard work shift in another country and with a foreign kitchen ... What could be better, haha.
Have you ever regretted your decision?
(♥) How can you regret the desire to stay? This is your conscious choice, no one at gunpoint makes you stay here haha. All my life I knew what I wanted and was going towards my goal. People do not leave their native country, because "it happened" or "the circumstances were like that". They leave because they want a better life. Even the winners of lotteries here are not dragged by snares. America is a country of winners and those who know what they want.
Which country do you consider to be your home?
(♥) I will quote from my recent article “A Typical Day in New York”.
It seems to me that the very essence of the expression “WHY YOU ARE IN AMERICA” has lost its meaning a little. The problem here begins with the question. America is my home. I am not here on earnings, not on business trips and not on studies. I live here. I feel at ease. I chose America because I believed in it. I believed that I could build a real house here. Isn't this the point of moving?
The reason for a temporary stay in America can be any, sometimes very multifaceted. The reason for the true move is always simple - to arrange a new destiny, a new hearth, a new family and a bright future for your children.
What is your education?
(♥) I have not completed my linguistic education, but in America I work as a journalist and keep my online blog - MAKE IT IN NEW YORK.
What was your first job here?
(♥) J1 usually provides a list of jobs in the field of self-service. My friend and I received an offer to work as waitresses in a small diner, state of Maryland.
First salary?

(♥) Not. New York embodies all my desires. Thanks to my work, I constantly attend events, interviews, enjoy life, meet people from various fields. I traveled around America, but always after a couple of days and a stream of emotions I still want to go back to HIM, NEW YORK.
Do you think this country is a strange opportunity?
(♥) YES, ABSOLUTELY. America is a land of opportunity, but only if you are open to America. I will explain. In a strange monastery with its charter do not go.
So many immigrants from Eastern Europe come here and live in Brighton Beach or in other “home-spilled” areas. I do not understand why then leave their native shores. RUSSIAN AMERICA is very different from the ORIGINAL.
I fully adapted to American life, I have American friends and colleagues. Because I AM AMERICA, and not its immigrant version. Yes, I sometimes go to Russian clubs and restaurants and met many good friends there. But for the first couple of years I completely refused to communicate in Russian. Thanks to such a “victim”, I now write articles in English and work in an American magazine that issued me a work visa. As Shakespeare said, “When you are in Rome, go talk with the Romans.” But then again, this is Shakespeare, he was always right haha.
My only advice is: when you come to America, don't just wear a T-shirt that says Keep Calm and Carry On, but really relax in maxim and be YOURSELF, and not an improved incomprehensible version of yourself .... Americans are very sociable and want to get to know you better, so stop hiding your “deep Russian soul” behind seven locks and reveal your full potential!
