How to transport an animal in the USA: personal experience

I want to share with you the algorithm for transporting a cat (small dog) to the USA. Usually information has to be pulled from different places, but I will try to put everything together. You need to start very early, the option “do everything in a week”, most likely, will not work, let's go in order.

All vaccinations are valid for a year, so make sure they are not expiring by the time you fly. And the vaccination must be done no earlier than 30 days in advance - quarantine. That's why it's so important to start early. Rabies vaccination is mandatory:

In addition (and it is better to do this before vaccination) you need to "proglist" the pet, the appropriate stickers about this and information must also be entered in the passport. Veterinary control requirements: parasites run every three months, so keep in mind the date of departure - will you still have a date for deworming.
These are all things that most pet owners are familiar with, but probably not all are chipped. For export to the USA, this is a mandatory requirement. This procedure for the animal is simple, quick and most likely painless, our cat did not even feel it.
The result will be a sensor mounted under the skin near the withers, which is read by the device and issues a serial number (multi-passport :)). In addition, the owner is given a certificate of chipping an animal and the data is also entered into your vetpasport. All information in the passport and certificate must be duplicated in English.

Important! If you are vaccinated for the first time, then you need to be chipped before the vaccination is made, it is necessary that the vaccine is listed in the database when the chip is read. The same rule applies to the last vaccination (if you have been vaccinated for several years already) - first we are chipped, then we are vaccinated. Be sure to ask veterinarians to add information about vaccinations to the international database.

Choosing a place of transportation
Your pet can fly with you in the cabin, and maybe in the luggage compartment. There are small nuances in transportation.
The first limitation: if the pet carrying weighs more than 8 kg, then you will not be allowed into the salon (the animal is weighed when checking in for a flight).
The second limitation: the size of the carrier must meet the requirements of the airline (specify it all in advance), so that you will be allowed into the salon, otherwise they will also be sent to the luggage compartment. For example, for Aeroflot: in total 3 measurements (length / width / height) the size of the rigid container should not exceed 125 cm, soft closed carrying bag - 135 cm. We chose this kind of carrier, it is light, fits the size, comfortable inside the cat , many ventilation holes, and it subsequently conveniently folds for storage:

We reserve a place for transportation
Choose a flight, departure date and make a ticket reservation (NOT REDEMPTION!), Only a reservation, after which you need to call the airline and make a request to transport the animal. You will be immediately given confirmation (or, I think, in very rare cases, a refusal) - and after that you can safely redeem your ticket. If the animal is not flying in the cabin, be sure to check if this aircraft is equipped with a special compartment for transporting animals. You will be already at the airport, after registration and weighing, to pay for the transportation of a pet (this is somewhere in the region of 5000 rubles, 75-76 dollars).

This form can be obtained only in the state veterinarian (Gortovstantion). The form is valid only 5 (!) Days, so it is impossible to get much in advance, but it is not worth delaying the receipt on the last day before the flight, you never know. You must have with you:
- animal;
- international veterinary passport (with up-to-date vaccinations and worms, see point 1);
- Chipping certificate;
- a small amount of money for a certificate.
They will examine the pet on the spot, shine it on the versicolor, check the chip, vaccinations, anthrax and on the basis of this will issue you a document.
IMPORTANT MOMENT! Recently, a clear note is needed that the animal does not have worms. This mark is put only on the basis of the submitted analysis. In the first photo below - scatology, this analysis is being prepared for one day. Where is it better for you to take it, check in advance by calling the local veterinary station. I had to go to a state laboratory to get such an analysis, it's good that I came to receive the F1 form 4 days before departure, and there was a day for tests in stock.
After you receive the form Ф1, you need to exchange it for an international veterinary certificate, and this is the next part of my story.

They work around the clock and to get it you will need (all of this you have already collected in the previous stages):
- animal in carrying;
- international vet. passport (with up-to-date vaccinations and worms, see point 1);
- Chipping certificate;
- Help F1 from the city station.
There is one big significant risk - you might get in line and miss your flight! Therefore, it is necessary to arrive at the airport very early, to take this fact into account (we waited for our turn for an hour). Next, I will teach you (and the veterinary inspector at the airport taught me how to do this step in advance in my city).
Since 2015, you have the full right to receive an international veterinary certificate (form 5A) in your city in your Rosselkhoznadzor (“When exporting dogs and cats, the veterinary certificate of form 1 is subsequently replaced at the border crossing point (airport) or in the region of residence with a veterinary certificate of the form 5A ") and then at the airport you pass veterinary control, already having all the necessary documents on hand!
The hitch is that in local Rosselkhoznadzor people are lazy to do this, but below I place an order (the inspector also told me), which they simply have no right to ignore, so feel free to print this order and go with it at your place of residence. As soon as you received the last beautiful piece of paper, the international veterinary certificate (form 5A), your bureaucratic ordeals are over - and you can prepare the animal for the trip.
Preparing for the flight
First of all, put absorbent diapers into the carrier (it is not necessary to buy just for animals, children are suitable too, and they can be easily found in supermarkets), a bowl for water. We took a little dry food, but it was not useful to us, since the cat slept all the hours of 10 and we did not disturb her.

I can not say whether he helped us or it just happened, but the cat has perfectly moved all the way, most of the time it just slept.
The most interesting thing is that nobody checked the cat on the US border, in principle there is no control procedure, so the most difficult thing was not to import it, namely, to take out! I can not say anything about the import for other countries, but here it is.
