The situation with the spread of a new type of coronavirus in the world is deteriorating even though the epidemiological situation is getting better in Europe, said Tedros Adan Gebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) at a briefing in Geneva.
“WHO has received reports of nearly 7 million cases [of coronavirus infection] in the world and of nearly 400 thousand deaths,” he said.
“Although the situation in Europe is improving, it is getting worse on a global scale,” the head of WHO admitted. According to him, only on Sunday, June 7, 136 thousand new cases were registered in the world.
“Nearly 75% of yesterday’s cases were in 10 states, mainly in America and South Asia,” Gebraisus said. He called on countries to "actively monitor."
