The court, the prison, the deprivation of a license and the deportation from the USA - this is how the story ended for a doctor who added an abortive tablet to a tea to a pregnant friend.
Sikander Imran met with Brooke Fisk and was the father of her child. When a woman came to him in the 17 week of pregnancy to discuss how they would raise a baby, Sikander, a medical practitioner, secretly threw a miscarriage pill into her tea, writes ABC News.
A few hours later, the woman began premature contractions - she immediately went to the hospital, but failed to save the child. Imran was arrested and charged with the murder of an unborn child. Despite the loss, Brooke opposed the maximum possible term for Imran (he lost his license, he was charged, which could be followed from 5 to 40 years in prison).
“For me, it’s not so important how many years he will spend in prison,” said the victim. “It’s important that people know that if they cannot cope with depression, it’s better to seek help before doing anything.”
Imran's lawyers said he had mental problems at the time, including panic attacks, and threatened to commit suicide. The man told the judge that he loved Brooke “more than anyone in this world,” and prays for their unborn child every day.
After serving a three-year term in prison, Imran may be deported to his home country, Pakistan.
