A young resident of Hong Kong said that she was forcibly married at a wedding, which she considered a practical joke. 21-year-old woman said that she was confident that she played the role of the bride in a fake wedding, and this is part of her training as an employee of the company for organizing weddings.
During the ceremony, she and the groom signed these marriage documents, tells Air force.
The fact that she is now actually married, the woman guessed only upon returning home to Hong Kong, where she turned to lawyers for help.
The police could not help because of lack of evidence, she had to contact the local federation of trade unions.
“This is a new form of marriage fraud. I am disappointed and cannot believe that this is possible in modern Hong Kong, ”Federation spokesman Tong Kamju told the BBC.
In May of this year, the heroine of the story saw an ad on Facebook about an internship as a makeup artist. But after she responded to it, the company invited her to participate in organizing wedding celebrations.
After a week of trainings, the woman was told that she had to take part in a fake wedding draw in China, and then her training would be considered complete.
In July she signed marriage documents. The company told her that the marriage would be considered invalid.
But when she returned home, she learned that it was not.
The woman remains married now - perhaps she will file for divorce. It is not known who the man she married is or if he is in Hong Kong.
“The heroine of this story was taken advantage of, she knew nothing about the real circumstances of what was happening,” - explained in the federation of trade unions.
Hong Kong police annually record about 1000 similar scam marriages between citizens of China and Hong Kong. Chinese residents who marry Hong Kong residents may qualify for the right to move to Hong Kong.
