What and when to buy in America in 2019: a complete guide to discounts

January is the time to make plans for the whole year. Idea: Plan to buy everything you've dreamed of for a long time at the best prices. Sounds complicated? Not really. Here's how to buy more and pay less each month in 2019.
Nerdwallet lists the best products and holidays when big sales are planned, plus a bonus of national holidays when you can get something for free (we called it “Free Lovers Day”).
January
Until the end of the month you can find great deals on some products.
Bed linen and towels. This month there are so-called “white sales” with big discounts on sheets and towels.
Fitness equipment. Vendors know that you want to get back in shape after the holidays, so fitness equipment and clothing will be sold at sporting goods stores.
Televisions and electronics. Shortly before the Super Bowl (February 3), retailers make discounts on TVs and home theater products.

February
This is a month of lovers and gifts, and also a great time to buy not only trinkets for a loved one, but also the necessary items for yourself and your home.
TVs. Sales on them smoothly flow from January to February, and this is the most profitable time for the whole year, not counting, perhaps, Black Friday.
Winter goods. The season ends - sellers are trying to unload stocks of products for cold weather. This means sales of clothing and winter sports equipment.
Household products. On Presidents Day and the weekend preceding the holiday, you are waiting for sales of such products.

March
In March there are almost no major holidays, but this does not mean that there are no sales.
Tax software. Vendors often discount software for paying taxes in March (shortly before Tax Day, which falls on April 15).
Grills. Buy everything you need for a summer barbecue grill in March to avoid a summer price hike.
St. Patrick's Day Sales. As a rule, a couple of days before this, online stores and supermarkets make discounts on green-colored clothing, festive attributes and decorations.

April
This month, traditionally held a useful and thematic sales.
A vacuum cleaner. Okay, this is not the most exciting purchase, but it will be less annoying if you take advantage of spring-oriented sales. Look for discounts in department stores, as well as from manufacturers (for example, Dyson).
Anything related to taxes. Year after year, shops and restaurants are trying to ease the burden of the Tax Day with discounts and free services. Watch this around mid-April.
Easter candy... The days after Easter are always discounts on candy, plastic eggs, animal figurines and more.

May
For the April rains, the May flowers will come in the form of fresh sales.
Spring clothes. By May, retailers will make a discount on spring clothing, which has been on the shelves for a month or two.
Furniture. The three most important shopping days each year are Black Friday, Labor Day and Memorial Day. The latter will come in May: look for discounts on furniture and home decor items in large stores.
Small kitchen appliances. Use may discounts to purchase small kitchen appliances, such as coffee makers and blenders. These products are usually included in sales on Memorial Day.

June
For thirty days of the first summer month you can buy a lot of useful, beautiful and necessary things.
Lingerie. Stock up on lingerie in June - this is the month Victoria's Secret is holding its famous sale (there are only two, the second will be in December).
Gym membership. Consider buying a club card - you will certainly find a great deal at this time.
Movie tickets. In the summer months, many cinemas offer promotions that usually include cheap tickets for children's films and cartoons.

July
In July, the air temperature rises, but prices for some groups of goods are falling.
Clothing. If you don't want to wait for the late summer sales, shop now - most likely, prices will be lower than at the beginning of the season.
Patriotic things. Shops love holidays. Shortly before 4 July, there was an increase in sales of red, white and blue goods (as well as all three colors), sports goods, jewelry and furniture.
Electronics. Many retailers have a kind of "preliminary" Black Friday in July. For example, Best Buy and Amazon (including Prime Day). Discounts will be presented in almost every product category.

August
Finish the season with some summer goods? Perfect - this is when the best sales await you.
Soon to school. The school year begins, which means that you will have to buy school accessories, as well as expensive equipment, such as laptops. As a rule, the closer to the beginning of the school year you are shopping, the higher the chances of getting a good price.
Products for work in the yard. Big discounts on lawn mowers and other seasonal equipment.
Swimsuits. Maybe in August you will not be able to swim as often as in July, but that is why you can buy swimsuits more profitable than in other months. Stock up next year.

September
September is a month for good shopping in a variety of categories, from mattresses to school supplies.
Mattresses. September is the mattress sale time. Look at chain and brand stores - usually starting on Labor Day.
iPhone. Apple announces the release of new iPhones at the annual conference in September. As a rule, after that prices for current phone models fall.
Home Appliances. During the week preceding Labor Day, a series of discounts are expected, including promotions for large and small household appliances.

October
Let the cost of Halloween-themed merchandise not scare you! In October, there are many sales in other categories.
Outdoor furniture. It got colder, and outdoor furniture is no longer so relevant, which means it's time to sell and buy it.
Jeans. Autumn models come to stores in August and September, but if you wait until October, pay for the same things a much smaller amount.
Candies. As Halloween approaches, the chances of buying a bag of candy and other sweets are increasing.

November
That same Black Friday Month! And this means that some popular products are cheaper now.
Electronics. Tablets, laptops, and gaming systems are key Black Friday sales. Add discounts on smartphones and activity trackers.
Appliances. Plan to buy large equipment - refrigerator, washing machine, dryer, dishwasher directly on Black Friday, but pay attention to offers outside of this day.
Tools. Household items - tools, ladders, boxes - tend to be very cheap during seasonal promotions and Black Friday.

December
End of the year - the beginning of discounts in some product categories.
Electronics. Since Cyber Monday in 2019 falls on December, discounts on electronics will move into the new month.
Toys. This is the most popular Christmas present, and shops tend to sell them off as the holiday season comes to an end.
Christmas decorations. Starting from the day after Christmas, sales start in stores (often more than 50%) for decorations, wrapping paper, artificial Christmas trees and similar seasonal items.
