On a trip abroad you can easily meet older travelers who, despite their age, are visiting the sights and even go in for active tourism.
Groups of foreign tourist pensioners can be seen on the streets of Moscow and St. Petersburg. Western retirees do not lose their taste for life and strive to see everything that they did not see in their youth, when they were busy with their careers, writes Rambler.
Unfortunately, our senior citizens rarely differ in this kind of joie de vivre.
There are several reasons for this.
First, for our mentality, the idea that life goes on after 60 years... In our culture, this is the “age of survival” - without interests and plans.
Secondly, on our pensions difficult to afford distant countries. And the point is not that in Western countries there is more pension. For example, by American standards, they are modest. But over the years, a person manages to make savings that do not burn under the pressure of unpredictable external circumstances.
Third, in the west there is a cult of independence and personal boundaries. Grandmothers and grandfathers do not devote their lives to their grandchildren and do not consider themselves obliged to financially help adult children. They cope with all the difficulties on their own. Thus, pensioners have enough money and time to pay attention to themselves. In our country, pensioners take care of their children and grandchildren, and they also help them with funds.
In addition, Europeans and Americans attentive to their health. Whereas we have to take care of ourselves. This is especially true of the older generation.
This is how the image of our pensioner is created, strikingly different from his peer on the other side of the border.
Have you observed such differences? Do you agree?
