Pricing procedure is fairly easy and transparent. Prices for diamonds are relative to the Rapaport international price list. This is a stock price list that gives us a starting point in the price of diamonds.
In the future, from this price, each trader gives his discount. There is an unspoken competition between sellers (who will give a big discount on a diamond). For each region, certain discounts have already been worked out. For Ukraine, 20-30% is considered acceptable, for other countries the discount may be more or less. There are cases when you can buy a diamond with a very big discount. For example, when a diamond office is closed, sometimes the entire stock will be sold off at cost, in which case you can buy a quality diamond with a discount of 50 or more percent.
A certain discount may be present on diamonds that have certain additional characteristics, such as fluorescence, for example. Fluorescence gives additional glow to the stone, in which it can acquire different shades, including bluish. In colorless stones this is an obvious minus, but in stones in which a gray or yellowish shade is initially present, fluorescence can play a positive role and slightly level (whiten) the color of the stone. Including the price is affected by the skill level of cut (polishing, symmetry) and other technical issues.
Also, big discounts come for diamonds with certificates from unknown laboratories. Let me remind you that you should only trust GIA IGI HRD!
Diamonds certified by other institutions may be debatable in terms of the objectivity of the valuation. Indeed, in the world there is a huge number of cases of overestimation of characteristics - in order to increase the price of a diamond and obtain super-profits.
Be careful and always specify when buying the size of the discount on the diamond from the report!
This rule applies when buying stones from 0,3 carats and above. But a really good discount can be obtained on diamonds over 1 carats.
