Broadway actor Nick Cordero lost his right leg due to complications during treatment with COVID-19. According to his wife, Amanda Kluts, doctors used thinning drugs to cause blood clotting in the leg, which caused internal bleeding in the intestines. The operation was performed 18 days after the arrival of the 41-year-old actor with coronavirus in the intensive care unit. Wife Cordero shared the news in her story on Instagram on the morning of April 18, and in the evening of the next day announced that her husband was recovering from amputation.
“They had them on thinners to improve blood coagulation and, unfortunately, they led to other problems - high blood pressure and internal bleeding in the intestines. We removed it from the thinners, but this again led to the formation of blood clots in the right leg. Therefore, today she was amputated, said Kluts. “He is alive and recovering.”
The actor entered the intensive care unit on March 31 with difficulty breathing and initially diagnosed pneumonia. Two tests for COVID-19 were negative, and the third was positive. Two weeks later, Cordero's health deteriorated significantly.

“They called me and said that due to an infection in his lungs, his temperature rose, his blood pressure dropped, and his heartbeat became irregular,” Kluts said on April 12. - Due to loss of consciousness and pulse, he had to be reanimated. In one of her latest posts, she shared part of a video from a wedding dance with Cordero staged by their choreographic friends. The woman wrote that she loves to dance with her husband and, despite the amputation of his legs, he will definitely dance with her again.
“I would really like to see him. Hold his hand. Touch his face. I believe that this will help him wake up, ”Kluts wrote.
A few days before the operation, more than 70 Broadway actors gathered in a video chat to pray for Cordero's health. His wife told the story of meeting her then-future spouse on the show “Bullets Over Broadway” and admitted that her colleagues ’prayer brought her to tears.
